First Things First!

As the summer is winding down and school is about to kick back into gear my classroom got a re-boot over the summer and I was able to makeover my classroom with a pretty clean slate!  When I first walked into my classroom 3 years ago the smell was something that was akin to walking into the Freshmen boys locker room.  I had blue carpet that was new when the building was constructed about 30 years before, and finally after millions of maintenance requests and one major air conditioning leak, I received tile flooring this summer and can I say it has never smelled better in my classroom!  Since the carpet came out and my walls were painted this summer it is almost like an entirely new classroom and that means a lot of work to get the room ready!  So on to the first thing on my list:  getting my classroom ready for students!

Here are some before pictures of my room during the removal process.
You can see the lovely carpet in this photo and the non-attached a/v cord.

The above board was one of the old style white boards that is not really a white board.  I have always kept it covered with paper because the stickers the previous teacher had put on the board were ripped and did not do anything to help my classroom.

You can see the extremely nasty dry water stain!

Pano view of the whole room about to be torn the rest of the way apart!

The next sets of pictures that I am posting will be of my classroom after the tile has been placed in the room and the Janitorial staff has put things back into my classroom.

This picture shows the tile!  (and yes there is white tile and creme tile) :-(

The blank space is where the yucky board was.

Lots of things to be put away and fixed

This will be my personal space

So now I am in the process of putting everything back together!  This is still an ongoing process, but I did find magnetic boarders for my whiteboard and I am going to upload a picture of what I did with them before I walk you back through my entirely new classroom next week!
Magnetic Boarders

Have a wonderful weekend but first let me know if you are like me and need to have your classroom ready before you even think about teaching.
